inI have a long term goal of turning this hobby farm into a poultry farm business. I never imagined in a thousand years that this would become a business I would ever be interested in, but crazier things have happened.

Now that I have gotten my feet wet in chicken raising, I decided it’s time I up my game. The coop we built can hold up to 40 chickens, and I plan on reaching close to that number. I want to add white, blue, green and very dark brown eggs to my mix, so here are the new chicks I ordered from Meyer Hatchery!!.
Exchequer Leghorns – Ordered 6 of these. They are excellent producers and should give me almost one egg a day.

This week we started mission clean up the pond area. Took down a few sad looking pine trees and trimmed a very over grown tree, that is an apple tree and bird cherry tree intertwined together. Started to take a few large weed/bushes out around the pond edge and worked on taking down a fence by the pond, as it is a mowing obstacle and eye sore. We took down another fence that was across from the pond area, as it served no purpose and made mowing a pain. Just by doing these few things, the areas look bigger and more appealing!
Also, enjoy some more pictures of the chickens and kids as they enjoy the country life!
